The Window Opens to the World
Lena Mattsson (*1966) is a prize-winning Swedish artist. Her practice includes photography, performance, film, and video. Her new monograph, The Window Open to the World, covers her entire oeuvre, while focusing on recent works such as the piece about the legendary Swedish publisher Bo Cavefors. Featuring essays by Lars Gustaf Andersson, John Peter Nilsson, and Charlotte Wiberg.

"When Hades bursts with blooms" is the title of my new film documentary/HD Video triptych, a collaboration with the Swedish punk icon Stry Terrarie Kanarie, the artist Carin Carlsson and the poet and writer Clemens Altgård. We will go on a journey from the beginning of punk, through the post-punk era to this day. What did the world look like then and what does it look like now?

Carolee’s is the second issue of The Magazine of the Artist’s Institute. Dedicated to Carolee Schneemann, it features a previously unpublished image archive from Schneemann’s studio that documents half a century of morphological connections between her work and other visual material, including art, advertising, and popular culture. A new long-form profile of Schneemann by writer Maggie Nelson accompanies this project and considers the artist’s relationship to the history of her reception and Schneemann’s significant influence on subsequent generations of feminists.
